Duck Mod lets players keep a customizable duck that follows them around, with a Fabric client mod and an optional server component.
What it does
The duck follows the player wherever they go and can be given a custom name and one of several skins, including female mallard and wood duck variants. Players can turn the quacking off, and a duck quacks now and then to draw attention. A duck can be teleported home when it gets stuck, and only animals that belong to their owner teleport.
On a server, the optional server component adds ducks that spawn naturally in the world, in seven species that can change depending on the duck species setting, with mallard as the default. Ducks are tamed with seeds, similar to chickens. The client needs the mod to enable the custom duck companion, while the server may skip it.
Both Cloth Config API and Fabric API must be installed alongside it. The mod is published for Fabric only, with 10 release versions across 1.21.2 – 1.21.11. The code is open source under the MIT License. The latest Fabric file, 1.0.0-1.21.5 for 1.21.5, was published on 2026-01-26, after the first release on 2026-01-25.
