Doomful

by poscard

Doomful changes how the Smite, Bane of Arthropods, Impaling and related enchantments behave, and adds relic items that grant weapons extra damage against chosen mobs.

ForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Doomful reworks the Smite, Bane of Arthropods and Impaling enchantments and expands on them, and a separate setting disables the enchantments that the 1.20.1 build had re-enabled. Relic items, each tied to a group of mobs such as pigs and illagers, can be applied to a weapon so that it deals more damage against that group. Relics drop from mobs including skeletons, piglin brutes, blazes, breezes, vindicators, shulkers and elder guardians, and they can also appear as dungeon loot.

The mod is built for Forge and works on 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with files for both versions. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, and the source code is public. A library mod is required, and a range of options can be adjusted. Because it runs on client and server, the server and every player need the mod.

Key features

  1. Reworked Smite and Bane enchantments

Smite, Bane of Arthropods and Impaling are changed and extended, with the 1.20.1 re-enabled versions of those enchantments turned off by a setting.

  2. Weapon relics

Relic items grant a weapon extra damage against a set of mobs, so one weapon can be specialised for different targets.

  3. Mob drops and dungeon loot

Each relic type drops from a matching mob, and relics also appear in dungeon chests.

  4. Smithing templates

Smithing templates are included, so relic-related upgrades can be crafted at a smithing table.
