Disable Tools

by DancingSnow0517

Disable Tools lets server owners and players switch off the attack and use functions of selected tools through a configuration file, while the items stay registered.

ForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1 – 1.20.4

What it does

A configuration file controls which tools lose their block attack, entity attack and block use functions. Disabled tools remain in the game as crafting items, so recipes that call for them still work. The mod is published for Forge only, for game versions 1.20.1 – 1.20.4, with 1.20.1-1.2.1 for 1.20.1 as the latest file.

Because it runs on client and server, the server needs it installed, and every player joining that server also runs it. The source code is public under the MIT License, and an issue tracker is open.

Key features

  1. Disabled tool functions

Attack and use actions of chosen tools are turned off, so they can no longer break blocks, hit entities or act on blocks.

  2. Configuration file

A config file sets which tools are affected, so the change can be tuned to a server's rules.

  3. Items stay craftable

Tools keep their registration and crafting recipes, so they still appear in inventories and as ingredients.

What the author says

A mod to disable tools. Can be configured in the configuration file. The tool in the configuration file will lose the attact to block, attack to entity, and use to block functions. But it will still be registered in the game as a crafting item only.
