Depression adds a mental health system to Minecraft, with emotions that rise and fall and a condition that can develop over time.

What it does

The mod tracks two attributes for each player, emotion and mental health. Emotion decides how quickly mental health goes up or down. Players see their current emotion through emoji shown on the experience bar. Getting hurt can leave a player with PTSD, and emotional damage from the same source hits harder over time.

When mental health stays low, a player can develop depression in three levels, and the level sets which symptoms appear, such as insomnia. Mental health can be inferred from a diary written at night, which is crafted from a book, a quill and a flower. Severe depression calls for a visit to a psychologist, and villages can generate a psychological clinic. Depression requires Architectury API. It runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it, and it is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, making it open source.
