Delayed Respawn
by stonelabs
Delayed Respawn makes a player who dies wait a set time before reconnecting to a Fabric server, in a semi-hardcore setup.
What it does
When a player dies, the server denies new connections from that player for a number of hours. The wait is recorded in a timeouts.json file in the server directory, so it survives restarts. A player who tries to join during the wait is refused until the timer runs out.
Operators can lift a timeout early with a pardon command, which removes the player from the death list. The length of the wait is set in seconds and adjusted through the deathTimeout game rule, so server owners can tune how strict the setup is. The mod runs on the server only, so players join without installing anything. Delayed Respawn requires nothing beyond Fabric, and its files are published for 1.18 – 1.20.1.
Key features
Timed connection denial
After a death, the server refuses the player's connection until the timeout expires.
Persistent timeouts
Timeouts are saved to timeouts.json in the server directory and remain after a restart.
Operator pardons
Operators can pardon a death or undo a pardon, using a list that tracks each timeout.
Adjustable duration
The timeout length in seconds is controlled by the deathTimeout game rule.

Use cases
Semi-hardcore servers
Server owners who want deaths to carry a cost beyond losing items can use the wait to slow a player's return.
Pardoning mistakes
Operators can lift a timeout after an unfair death, using the pardon list.
Who it’s for: Server owners running Fabric who want a semi-hardcore death penalty. Players need no installation, since the mod is server-side only.

Server side mod that will deny your connection if you died within the last X hours. Its quite simple. You die, you take a timeout. Semi-hardcore so to speak. These are saved in timeouts.json in your server directory.
