Default Components
Default Components lets a server owner add, remove or change the default data components that items carry, using simple datapacks, and it works with modded items and components.
What it does
The mod works on the default item components that vanilla items already have, such as food values, tool properties and other stats. A datapack can add, remove or override these components on selected items, and the change is read again on reload so edits take effect without restarting the game. Because the mod is data driven, pack authors write JSON files rather than code, and it can reach items and components added by other mods.
Server side is where the changes happen, and the mod works with vanilla clients. The author notes that the client side can extend past vanilla limits, and that the mod modifies packets so that clients get a smoother experience, including better behavior in the creative inventory. Players whose clients run the mod are recommended for less lag and fewer display glitches. Default Components requires Fabric API and is published for Fabric and Quilt across 11 game versions, under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and the project is open source. Mythic Charms requires it.
