DeadTell
by atenshi_
On Fabric for 1.21.1, DeadTell is a social-deduction minigame where each player is secretly given a role, Killer, Detective or Innocent, and pursues a separate goal.
What it does
Players are assigned roles at the start of a round. The Killer is a hidden murderer who must eliminate players without being caught. The Detective is the only player who carries a gun and must identify and eliminate the Killer. Innocents are regular players who try to survive and gather clues. Because the goal depends on each player's role, a player has to remember what they are and act on it.
Clues, corpses and role abilities are the key mechanics. Once the game enters its final phase, the Killer's identity is revealed to the Innocents, and when enough paper pieces have been collected a system activates that makes the final phase high-risk. The mod provides a role management command system that can assign one or more players the Killer or Detective role, and it displays detailed information about the current game.
DeadTell is built for multiplayer servers, where the round needs several players and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player must run it. It requires Fabric API, Farmer's Delight Refabricated, Farmer's Knives and Vic's Point Blank. The mod is published for Fabric only, in version 1.0.0 for 1.21.1, and is not open source; its license is All rights reserved.
Key features
Hidden roles
Each round gives players a secret role. The Killer, Detective and Innocent roles each have their own objectives.
Clue collection
Innocents gather clues, and the clue system drives how the round progresses for every role.
Corpse and ability mechanics
Corpses and role abilities are central to play, so a death or an ability use can shift the round.
Final phase
After a set number of paper pieces have been gathered, the Killer is exposed to the Innocents and the match moves into a dangerous closing phase.
Role commands
A command system assigns one or more players the Killer or Detective role and shows detailed game information.
