datattributes

by PanCaKe_0_0_0

datattributes lets server owners define custom attributes through datapacks, with a scoreboard name, a value range and a step for each one.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalMIT License1.20 – 1.21.10

What it does

Attributes are declared in a data pack rather than in code, so a pack author can add an entry with its own description and scoreboard name. Each attribute sets a minimum and a maximum value, and values move in steps that the author chooses. The author notes give the example of steps of 5, 10 and 15, and of percentage-style values. Attributes can also raise damage dealt by swords and by axes, so a pack can change combat numbers without a code change.

The mod is a Library for other mods and packs. Because it loads through data, it works with pack-based setups and does not need a separate modpack tool. The server must run it, and players may add it, but a client alone does nothing. Files exist for 18 release versions, 1.20 – 1.21.10, on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. The mod is licensed under the MIT License and is not open source in the sense of a shared repository, so the license text governs reuse.

Key features

  1. Data-driven attribute definitions

Attributes are declared in data pack files, so new entries need no compiled code.

  2. Scoreboard integration

Each attribute is tied to a scoreboard name, so commands and other packs can read its value.

  3. Minimum, maximum and step values

Every attribute sets a range and a step size, for example steps of 1, 5, 10 or 15.

  4. Sword and axe damage

Attributes can increase the damage a player deals with swords and with axes.
