Damage Taken Indicator

by MinexInd

Damage Taken Indicator shows the health a player gains or loses as numbers on the HUD, with colors set by type of change.

What it does

Health changes appear as floating numbers on the HUD. Damage is shown in red and healing in green, so a player can read each change at a glance. Critical hits get large gold indicators, which mark high-damage hits that may need attention first. Rapid hits from fire, poison or several attackers are summed into one running total, so the figure tracks the full amount taken rather than each small tick.

The mod is a Fabric client mod. Only the client needs it, and servers run without it installed. It is published in 12 release versions, with the latest Fabric file, 1.0.1, built for 1.21.11. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the source code and issue tracker are linked from the project page.

Key features

  1. Red damage and green healing

Damage and healing numbers use separate colors, so each kind of change can be told apart without reading the figure.

  2. Gold critical hit indicators

Critical hits show as larger gold numbers, which set high-damage hits apart from ordinary ones.

  3. Accumulated damage totals

Repeated hits in quick succession are added into a single total, which tracks fire, poison and multiple attackers.

  4. Live-reload configuration

Colors, scale and positions can be changed while the game runs, without restarting the client.

  5. Readable setting names

Colors can be set with plain names such as RED, GOLD or AQUA instead of hex codes, and indicator size can be adjusted.
