Custom Skyboxes
by Cotii_Art
Custom Skyboxes lets a player replace the Minecraft sky, the sun and moon, clouds, rain, snow and night lights, with textures, animated GIFs and GeckoLib models.
What it does
Replacement can be set per element or for all of them at once, and can apply globally or per biome in the Overworld, Nether and End. Rifts, which are tears in the sky with animated openings, can be placed anywhere in the sky and can hold 3D models that play idle and one-shot animations. Commands take name=value arguments in any order, and tab completion offers names and accepted values until an argument is used.
Rifts come in 25 shapes, including circle, diamond, a six-pointed shape, sparkle and heart, and in 26 named colours or hex colour codes. Each rift can use one of 14 entrance animations such as unzip, slash, lightning or supernova, and a play-once animation returns to idle, holding its last frame when it ends. A texture is found by the model's name, with the vanilla texture kept when none is given.
The mod is client-side only, so players install it alone and servers do not need it. Fabric versions require Fabric API. Server owners can use a Paper plugin to drive everyone's sky, and the mod works with the Sodium, Iris and Oculus shader packs for 26.x on both OpenGL and Vulkan. Builds cover 1.20 – 26.3, and the code is released under All rights reserved.
