Crafted Tweaks fills several gaps in vanilla crafting by adding recipes for dyes, a book and quill, and other items that have no recipe in the base game.

What it does

The mod ships as a data pack, so it adds crafting recipes without changing any game code. Dyes that vanilla does not craft become possible: black dye from coal or charcoal, light blue dye from a glow ink sac, light gray dye from gunpowder, red dye from redstone or sweet berries, lime dye from a slime ball, and yellow, blue and green dyes from their flower-based inputs. A purple dye can be made from amethyst crystals, and a book and quill can be crafted with a glow ink sac.

The data pack is the only part that changes the game, and it is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across the 1.20 – 1.20.2 range, with 2.2.0+mod for 1.20.2 as the latest file. The server needs the mod, while a client can join without installing it. The code is closed, under All rights reserved, and source code and an issue tracker are linked publicly.

  1. Black dye from coal

    Coal and charcoal both craft into black dye, a route that vanilla does not offer.

  2. Dyes from glow and slime

    A glow ink sac yields light blue dye and a slime ball yields lime dye, adding colors without a trip to a farm.

  3. Purple dye from amethyst

    Amethyst crystals can be turned into purple dye, giving the color a use from an ore found underground.

  4. Book and quill recipe

    A book and quill can be crafted with a glow ink sac, filling a gap in the vanilla writing items.
