Cool Elytra Roll
by Jorbon
Cool Elytra Roll changes how the Elytra turns in flight: holding a key tilts the glider the way an aircraft rolls, and the camera follows.
What it does
Turning during Elytra flight is rotated by the camera, and the roll is computed from actual physics, so the banking follows the way an airplane rolls. The mod adds a yaw and roll control scheme with strafe keys, and a flight mode selector lets players pick between the vanilla behavior, the classic roll mechanic and a newer realistic flight mode. Holding the sneak key switches which input drives roll and which drives yaw, and an option inverts that shift key behavior.
The mod runs on the client only, so the server does not need to install it, and the way it changes Elytra movement is handled on the client while it interacts with the server as normal. Cool Elytra Roll is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only. Files are published for Fabric alone, across 38 release versions 1.16 – 26.3, and the latest Fabric file is 1.5.5 for 26.3. The MidnightLib config menu is bundled with the mod.
Key features
Camera roll during flight
The camera rotates while the player turns in flight, giving a banking motion around the glider.
Turning force and smoothing
A turning force setting controls how far the roll goes, and a smoothing value softens the changes to the roll angle.
Flight mode selection
Players choose vanilla behavior, the classic roll mechanic or the realistic flight mode in the config.
Sensitivity controls
Separate roll, yaw and pitch sensitivity multipliers apply to mouse inputs while flying in realistic mode.

What the author says
This is a client-side fabric mod that rotates the camera while turning during elytra flight. It's both realistic and cool since it uses actual physics to imitate the way an airplane would roll to make maneuvers. Note: This does not in any way change how elytra flight actually moves the player or how your client…
