Configurable Villagers

by lyszczykooo

Configurable Villagers lets server owners change how villagers restock trades, how fast they breed and how long curing a zombie villager takes.

FabricServer-side onlyMIT License1.21 – 26.2

What it does

The mod exposes villager behaviour that vanilla hardcodes, including what a profession sells, how much stock each trade holds, how often villagers restock and how quickly they breed. Values are set in a config file that can be edited while the server is running, and changes take effect immediately without touching the disk again. Commands that change the settings need permission level 2.

Only the server needs the mod, so players join without installing anything. It works on dedicated servers and in singleplayer. Installing it changes nothing until the values are edited, because the default settings reproduce vanilla exactly. A master switch returns every value to vanilla behaviour without uninstalling the mod. Configurable Villagers is published for Fabric only, across six game versions, 1.21 – 26.2, and is released under the MIT License but is not open source. Fabric API is required.

Key features

  1. Trade and profession settings

Server owners can change what each profession sells and how much stock a trade holds, through a datapack-style setup.

  2. Restock and breeding timing

The interval between restocks and the speed of villager breeding can be tuned to suit the server's pace of play.

  3. Zombie curing duration

How long a zombie villager takes to cure can be set in the same config file as the other villager values.

  4. Master switch to vanilla

A single enabled switch restores every villager behaviour to vanilla without removing the mod from the server.

What the author says

Villagers, on your terms. Configurable Villagers exposes the parts of villager behaviour that vanilla hardcodes — how much stock a trade holds, how often villagers restock, how fast they breed, how long curing a zombie villager takes — and puts them in a config file you can edit while the server is running. It runs…
