Configurable Sponges changes how far Sponge and Wet Sponge reach, letting a server owner set the clearing range through game rules.

What it does

Sponges and Wet Sponges normally absorb water in a fixed area. This mod exposes their range as a game rule, so the radius can be set higher or lower. It also lets the same blocks clear lava and powder snow, and a separate rule controls whether Wet Sponges pick up lava. The changes apply on the server only, and the environment is server-side only, so players join without installing anything. Fabric API is required, and the code is under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, which makes the mod open source. Files cover 1.21.5 – 1.21.11, with the latest Fabric file built for 1.21.11.

  1. Adjustable sponge range

    The range of Sponges and Wet Sponges is set with a game rule, such as a value of 30 instead of the default.

  2. Lava and powder snow clearing

    Sponges can remove powder snow as well as water, and a rule enables Wet Sponges to clear lava.

  3. Waterlogged block handling

    Some waterlogged blocks lose their water when a sponge reaches them, which changes how sponge placement behaves.
