Colorful Anvils Unoffical Port
Colorful Anvils Unoffical Port lets players rename items at an anvil using formatting codes for colors, bold text, hex colors and gradients.
What it does
Typing a name at an anvil accepts formatting codes such as a color code followed by a style code, so a Fire Sword can be given colored, bold text. The part before the first vertical bar becomes the item name, and anything after it is written as lore lines underneath. Basic formatting, gradient text and rainbow text are all covered in the same name field.
The port targets Minecraft 1.21.8 and later on Fabric only. It is an unofficial port of the original Colorful Anvils mod by rogi27, and the gallery examples on its project page show the formatting styles. Renaming an item without touching the name field keeps any lore it already has, and permissions can limit who may use the formatting features. The mod is released under the MIT License and is not open source in the sense of publishing its own project files, while the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need it.

Names can use gradient and rainbow text in addition to basic colors and hex colors.
Lore from the name field
Text after the first vertical bar becomes lore lines, while the part before it becomes the item name.

Who it’s for: Players and server owners on Fabric who want colored names and lore on anvil-renamed items, and who run Minecraft 1.21.8 or a later release.
How it compares
Enhanced Anvils is a Fabric and NeoForge mod for 1.21.1 – 26.3, licensed under the MIT License and open source, with the same client and server environment as Colorful Anvils Unoffical Port. HexColorChat is client-side only and open source under the MIT License, but it is limited to 1.21.5 and handles chat rather than anvils.
