Cobblemon: Virtual Loot

by LunazStudios

Cobblemon: Virtual Loot lets Pokémon assigned to a Virtual Pasture stay virtual while the block still generates their loot directly into its inventory.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1

What it does

A Virtual Pasture block works like a Cobblemon pasture: a Pokémon assigned to it stays virtual and does not appear as an entity in the world. The block still processes loot. Each assigned Pokémon is read by the mod, checked to confirm it is valid and has not fainted, and its form's drop table is rolled. One generated item is inserted into the Virtual Pasture's inventory, so the results never land on the ground.

The mod was created as a cleaner alternative to keeping Pokémon outside as decorative companions, because many Pokémon entities walking around could cause lag and item drops piled up on the ground. Pokémon stay decorative while the loot still arrives. Generation rate is controlled by a configuration file: the tick-per-loot value defaults to 1200, the same 60 seconds as normal Minecraft timing, and the drop chance per minute defaults to 0.05, meaning a 5% chance per configured minute. The per-tick chance is converted internally so generation stays smooth instead of happening once.

Installation needs Architectury API, Cobblemon and Fabric API on Fabric. On NeoForge, Architectury API and Cobblemon are required. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Cobblemon Virtual Loot is open source under the MIT License and is published for 1.21.1 on Fabric and NeoForge. Cobbleworkers and Cobbreeding are optional dependencies, and the mod also works on its own.

Key features

  1. Virtual Pasture block

A block placed and used like a Cobblemon pasture, holding assigned Pokémon virtually while they stay out of the world.

  2. Loot from Cobblemon drop tables

Each assigned Pokémon's form drop table is rolled, and one generated item is inserted into the block's inventory.

  3. Item blacklist

A configured list of item IDs blocks specific items from being generated, while the Pokémon's rolled drop list is ignored.

  4. Flattened stack sizes

An option forces each valid generated item stack to a single item, and when disabled, the rolled quantity is kept.

What the author says

Cobblemon Virtual Loot adds a Virtual Pasture to Cobblemon, inspired by the idea behind Cobblemon Pasture Loot. After seeing players report lag issues from having many Pokemon entities walking around and also wanting a way to keep Pokemon outside purely as cute decorative companions without them constantly dropping…
