Cobblemon Max Level Catch Cap
by specdomino
Cobblemon Max Level Catch Cap limits which wild Pokémon a trainer can catch, based on the level of the strongest Pokémon in the party.
What it does
Under the cap, a Poké Ball that targets a Pokémon above the allowed level bounces off it instead of catching it. A message in the action bar states the highest level the player may catch at that moment. The cap is tied to the party's strongest Pokémon, so a player whose top Pokémon is level 15 cannot catch a level 20 Pokémon until the team is trained further. Progress therefore cannot be skipped by catching a high-level Pokémon on a lucky roll.
The mod is built for progression in Cobblemon playthroughs and multiplayer servers that want trainers to level up before taking on stronger wild Pokémon. A starter protection rule keeps early catching possible: the cap never falls below level 5, so even a fresh party can catch low-level Pokémon. Players in Creative mode ignore the cap.
Fabric API and Fabric Language Kotlin are required, and the mod needs Cobblemon itself. Cobblemon Max Level Catch Cap runs on Fabric only, for game versions 1.21 – 1.21.11, and is released under All rights reserved. Its source code is public, but the project is not open source.
Key features
Progression cap
Catches are limited to Pokémon at or below the level of the party's strongest Pokémon, so training the team widens the range.
Bounce mechanic
A Poké Ball aimed at a Pokémon above the cap bounces off it rather than triggering a capture attempt.
Action-bar message
An action-bar message reports the highest level the player may catch when a throw is refused as too strong.
Starter protection
The cap never drops below level 5, so low-level Pokémon can always be caught at the start of a run.

How it compares
Follow me [Cobblemon] runs on Fabric for 1.21.1 on both client and server and is under the MIT License, so it adds a different feature set rather than a catch limit. Cobblemon: Capture PC Heal runs on Fabric for 1.21.1 with the server alone, under the MIT License, and handles healing and storage around captures. CatchCombo [Cobblemon Addon] is a Fabric addon for 1.21.1 – 1.21.11 that runs on client and server and is under All rights reserved, so it covers a broader version range than Cobblemon Max Level Catch Cap.
