Coated Blades
by ARKK
Coated Blades lets players coat swords, axes and other weapons with potion effects, so a hit inflicts the chosen effect on players and mobs.
What it does
Weapons can be coated with potions obtained in survival mode, so a strike applies the potion's effect to the target. The effect's strength, amplifier and duration follow the potion used. Coated swords hold 8 uses, while other effect types hold 32 uses, and the amount of uses varies by effect type, with instant effects and one-minute potions counting differently. Coating can be removed by applying water, an awkward potion or a thick or mundane potion to the weapon.
The behavior is set through a datapack. An item modifier file controls which weapons can be coated, and a blacklist folder lets server owners exclude specific effects by dragging their JSON files into it. The server needs Coated Blades, and players need the mod only if they want to use it on the client; the server side is required, client side optional. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, under All rights reserved and not open source.
