Clean Entry List

by frikinjay

Clean Entry List is a small client-side Utility mod that removes the box, top and bottom shadows and bezels from the Resource Pack menu and other similar menu screens.

FabricForgeQuiltClient-side onlyMIT License1.18.2 – 1.19

What it does

Clean Entry List targets the flat list screens in Minecraft, such as the Resource Pack menu, where entries are framed by box edges, top and bottom shadows and bezels. Removing those decorations leaves the entries plain. The author wrote it as a single-purpose mod, and it changes only the visuals of these list screens.

The mod is client-side only, so a server does not need it and players can join a server without installing anything. It is published for Fabric, Forge and Quilt, with one release for 1.18.2 dated 2022-07-15, and the only other game version with files is 1.19. The code is under the MIT License and is not open source. The author notes it is compatible with FancyMenu, which was the main reason it was made.

The project was the author's first mod, made to learn the basics of modding, and the author states that its size is deliberately small. The author notes that the code is two lines of change. Public links are limited to an issue tracker.

Use cases

Resource pack browsing

Players who scroll through a long list of resource packs can read entries without the extra framing around them.

Custom menus

Players using FancyMenu to build custom menus can pair it with this mod for a cleaner list look.

Who it’s for: Players who want flatter list screens in the Resource Pack menu and similar menus, and players who use FancyMenu. Only the client needs the mod, so it suits single-player games and multiplayer clients alike.

How it compares

Full comparison

Drag 'n' Drop is client-side only and open source under the MIT License, published for Fabric and Quilt on 1.19.1 – 1.19.3, so it covers a different range of versions. No Report Button is also client-side only and open source, but it is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, with builds for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt covering 1.19.1 – 26.3. Clean Entry List targets menus and visual framing, not those features.

What the author says

Clean Entry List is the smallest mod I've made for one simple purpose that is to remove the ugly bezels that plague the Resource Pack menu. I needed this mod a long time ago when I knew little to nothing about making mods and when I asked around nobody had any idea or just didn't care enough. Now that I know a bit of…
