Chai's Inventory Sorter
by Chai
Chai's Inventory Sorter adds sort, restock and quick stack buttons to container screens, with configurable rules for which items come first.
What it does
Players press buttons on container screens to sort inventory slots, restock partial stacks from the opened container, or move matching stacks into it. The sorting rules are configurable, so blocks, items, stackable and unstackable items, or a single chosen item ID can be placed first, and the sort order runs through each option in sequence. The default groups follow vanilla item groups, and mods that add their own creative item groups can be sorted by those groups too. A few item tags are included to help with sorting.
The mod is built on Fabric and needs Bento Box, Fabric API and oωo (owo-lib) to run. Mod Menu is optional and provides a settings screen. It is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and runs on client and server, so both the server and players need it. Files exist for 1.20 – 1.20.4 on Fabric, with 1.2.4+1.20.2 for 1.20.4 as the latest file.

Use cases
Storage management
Players with large storage setups can keep chests and barrels organized after each trip without moving items by hand.
Server organization
Server owners can set the sort order for the whole server through the configuration, so all players sort the same way.
Who it’s for: Players who keep many containers and want a quick way to sort and restock them, and server owners who want shared sorting rules across a Fabric server.
How it compares
Auto sorter runs on Fabric for 1.20.1 with an MIT License and is open source. It is client and server, so players and the server both need it. Smart Inventory Manager is client-side only on Fabric for 1.21 – 26.1.2 and is not open source. Chai's Inventory Sorter covers a different version range than both of them.
