Castle Dungeons
by Pufferfish
Castle Dungeons generates procedurally built castles and underground dungeons in the world, so players can find them while exploring.
What it does
Castle Dungeons adds procedurally generated castles, with two castle types by default: a plains style and a desert style. Each castle holds many different rooms, and each room carries its own unique loot. A castle boss room sits at the end of the structure, and the castles are meant to be dangerous, with full illagers among the inhabitants. The mod adds only structures and no new items or blocks, so the client does not need it.
Fabric API is required, and the mod runs on Fabric and Forge. Its castles are defined through a data pack, and the wiki does not yet document how the default castles are configured. The author asks players to report incompatibilities and conflicts with other mods. The mod is published for 1.19.2 – 1.20, with the latest files for 1.20 dated 2023-06-12, and it is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Redistribution in modpacks is allowed, as the author notes.
Key features
Procedurally generated castles
Castles are generated in the world at random positions as the player explores new terrain.
Unique loot rooms
Each room in a castle holds its own loot table, so no two rooms offer the same rewards.
Castle boss room
A boss room is included in each castle, giving players a fixed challenge at the end of the structure.
Data pack configuration
Castle layouts and their contents are set through a data pack, so server owners can adjust the default castles.

Use cases
Adventure maps
Map makers can place castles with unique loot and a boss room in custom worlds built around exploration.
Modpacks
Modpack builders can add castle structures to a pack, because the author permits redistribution.
Who it’s for: Server owners and modpack builders who want generated castle structures with loot rooms and a boss room, and players who explore for dungeons and fights.
