What it does

Carved Melons adds a carved melon block that can be made with shears on a melon, then placed on the ground in any of 12 directions. Crafting it with a redstone torch produces a Melon o'Lantern, a decorative block that gives a dim light. The mod is a cursed decoration pick, and it is inspired by a Reddit post that asked why carved pumpkins had no melon equivalent.

The Melon o'Lantern is a redstone component as well as a light. Only the face of the block emits a redstone signal, so it works as a one-sided redstone block. The feature is a hidden extra, built into a decorative block rather than offered as a separate mechanic.

Carved Melons runs on the client and on the server, so both sides need it. It is published for Fabric and Quilt, with files for game versions 1.16.2 – 1.19.2 covering eight release versions. The mod is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and its source code and issue tracker are public.
