bring back disarmed tripwire

by F1nal04

With bring back disarmed tripwire installed, a shear hit on a tripwire string disarms it again, restoring the behavior that Minecraft dropped in a later update.

FabricServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.8 – 1.21.10

What it does

Before a later Minecraft update, using shears on a tripwire string disarmed the tripwire, and the string stayed in place. Bring Back Disarmed Tripwire restores that behavior for the current game. The first shear hit leaves the string on the ground in a disarmed state and costs the shears 1 durability. A later hit on a string that is already disarmed breaks it normally, as in vanilla.

The mod runs on the server side only, so players who join a modded server do not need to install anything. It works in singleplayer and on dedicated servers. A server owner installs Fabric Loader and Fabric API, places the built JAR in the mods folder, and starts the server. Vanilla clients can connect without the mod. Fabric API must be present alongside it.

The mod is published for Fabric only, with a 1.1.0 file for 1.21.10 dated 2025-11-19 and builds covering 1.21.8 and 1.21.10. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Disarm on first shear hit

The first shear hit on an armed tripwire string turns it into a disarmed string that stays in place.

  2. Durability cost on disarm

Disarming a tripwire costs the shears 1 durability, while the string remains on the ground.

  3. Normal break on second hit

Shearing a string that is already disarmed breaks it normally, matching the behavior of unmodified Minecraft.

Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want shears to disarm tripwire the way it worked in earlier versions, on Fabric and Fabric API.

What the author says

Restores the pre-1.21.1 behavior of tripwire: when you use shears on tripwire string, it is disarmed instead of broken. The remapped JAR will be in build/libs/.
