Break Protection

by AlmightyAnubis

Break Protection stops a player from accidentally breaking certain blocks, such as a Budding Amethyst, by left-clicking them directly.

ForgeClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.19 – 1.20.2

What it does

The mod is a client-side guard against unintended block breaking. When a player left-clicks one of the protected blocks, the click is cancelled, so the block stays in place. Blocks that vanish after a single accidental hit, like budding amethyst and some spawners, are the main target. The list of blocks that count as protected can be changed, so a player can add or remove block types to suit a world.

The protection applies only to direct clicks. Breaks caused by other mods, such as area-of-effect tools, still remove the block, and the mod does not stop them. A player running the Automining mod is the one known exception, and the author notes that it is compatible with the newest version only. Because the code runs on the client alone, servers need no changes. Files are published for Forge only, across eight release versions 1.19 – 1.20.2, with 1.2 for 1.20.2 as the latest file. Other versions are planned.

Key features

  1. Blocks guarded from left-click

Left-clicking a protected block is cancelled, so it is not removed by a stray hit.

  2. Editable block list

Block types can be added to or removed from the protected set to match the player's own preferences.

  3. Direct clicks only

The guard covers the player's own clicks and leaves breaks from other mods' tools unchanged.

  4. Budding amethyst coverage

Budding amethyst is among the blocks that vanish after one accidental break, which the mod is built to prevent.

Questions

Does Break Protection need to be on the server?

No. Servers do not need it; each player installs it for their own game.

Will Break Protection stop breaks caused by area-of-effect tools?

No. The protection applies only to direct left-clicks, so breaks from other mods' tools still remove the block.

Which Minecraft versions does Break Protection support?

Files cover 1.19 – 1.20.2 for Forge, with 1.2 for 1.20.2 as the latest file.

What the author says

This is a client side mod that prevents you from left clicking blocks you dont want to left click and prevents you from breaking them this way. This is really helpful to not accidentally breaking budding amethyst, spawners or other blocks that will simply vanish after breaking. It only protects you from clicking on…
