Boleatte is a Food mod for Fabric and Quilt that adds new foods, biomes, wood types and a dimension reached through a portal made of Oretesse.

What it does

Boleatte adds several new foods, several new biomes and several new wood types, and it introduces a new dimension with its own features. Players explore the dimension and collect ingredients there, then combine exotic foods to uncover recipes that the mod describes as lost to time. The dimension can be entered through a portal whose frame follows the same shape rules as a nether portal, except that it is built from Oretesse instead of obsidian.

A Dimatis is the key item for entering the dimension, and its recipe is four Oretesse arranged around one iron ingot in the layout of a compass. The dimension's air is harsh, and a Dimatis lets the wearer breathe it safely, so it has to be crafted before exploring. Later upgrades to the Dimatis use the mod's gem collection, and the gems hold spirits from Eidolons, while runes representing ancient beings are scattered around the dimension.

Boleatte requires Fabric API and runs on client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. Roughly Enough Items (REI) is optional and only adds recipe lookup. The mod is released under the MIT License and is open source. Files are published for Fabric and Quilt, both for 1.19.2.

Key features

  1. Exotic food recipes

Foods are combined from ingredients gathered in the mod's dimension, and the recipes are meant to be discovered by exploring.

  2. Oretesse portal

A portal built from Oretesse follows nether portal frame rules, so it can be lit without obsidian.

  3. Dimatis breathing gear

A Dimatis crafted from Oretesse and iron lets players breathe the dimension's harsh air.

  4. Gems and runes

Blessed gems collected in the dimension can upgrade the Dimatis, and runes around the world point to ancient beings.

Use cases

Exploring a new dimension

Players craft a Dimatis, light the Oretesse portal and explore the dimension to gather ingredients and runes.

Cooking with new ingredients

Players who gather exotic ingredients can combine them into foods and recover recipes that are not in vanilla play.

Who it’s for: Players who want new foods and a themed dimension to explore in Fabric or Quilt worlds. Server owners need to install the mod on both sides and can add REI for recipe lookup.

Questions

Does Boleatte need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is required, so it must be installed next to Boleatte on both Fabric and Quilt.

Does Boleatte have to be installed on a server?

Yes. Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

Why does the dimension need a Dimatis?

The dimension's air is harsh, and a Dimatis is required to breathe it safely, so it must be crafted first.
