Big Globe

by Builderb0y

Players who want larger terrain can load Big Globe, which makes all three vanilla dimensions taller and wider than usual on Fabric.

FabricClient and serverAll rights reserved1.19.2 – 26.1.2

What it does

Big Globe changes world generation for the overworld, the Nether and the End. The overworld is 2048 blocks tall and the Nether and End are each 1024 blocks tall, a height change that data packs can make since Minecraft 1.18. Its terrain is produced by a scripting language the mod ships with, so most of its features are scripts rather than standard vanilla worldgen.

Fabric API is required. Cloth Config API and Mod Menu are optional. Because the mod adds blocks, items and entities that data packs cannot register, the mod must run on both the client and the server. The server and every player need the mod installed. Files exist for 1.19.2 – 26.1.2, with 6.2.1 as the latest Fabric build, for 26.1.2.

Other mods' biomes, ores, structures and features do not generate in Big Globe worlds unless a data pack written for Big Globe places them, and the end dimension only follows the mod's rules from version 3.6.0 onward. Worlds may also change in future releases, which can break old saves.

Key features

  1. Taller dimensions

The overworld reaches 2048 blocks high, and the Nether and End reach 1024 blocks high.

  2. Scripted terrain

Most terrain features are written in the mod's own scripting language, which allows rules that vanilla density functions cannot express.

  3. Larger scale

Terrain is generated on a very large scale horizontally and vertically, so landmarks are far apart.

  4. Compatibility data packs

Data packs written for the mod can place content from other mods or data packs in Big Globe worlds.

Questions

Does Big Globe require Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is a required dependency, and Big Globe runs only on the Fabric loader.

Will biomes from other mods generate in Big Globe worlds?

Not by default. Biomes, ores and structures from other mods need a data pack written for Big Globe to place them.

Will Big Globe's worlds stay the same after updates?

The author notes the mod might change in the future and could break old worlds, so backing up a world before updating is advisable.
