With Better Paragliders, stamina that a paraglider uses is also spent on melee swings, shots and blocks through Better Combat.
What it does
Better Paragliders is a compatibility mod that connects the stamina system of the gliding mod it extends with the attacks handled by Better Combat. Once installed, the attacks a player makes draw from the same stamina pool that gliding uses, so combat and flight compete for one resource. Better Combat is required, and the mod is published for Forge across three game versions: 1.18.2, 1.19.2 and 1.20.1, with builds covering 1.18.2 – 1.20.1.
The mod is installed on client and server, so both sides need it. Its code is under the MIT License and is open source, and the project publishes its source code, issue tracker and wiki. The latest Forge file is 0.6.0-1.20.1 for 1.20.1, released on 2024-10-18, and the first release dates from 2023-07-27.
Key features
Basic melee attacks
Melee swings cost stamina, and the amount depends on the attack's damage and reach, with values set in the server config.
Ranged attacks
Drawing a bow, loading a crossbow and nocking arrows each drain stamina, so shooting has a cost.
Blocking attacks
Blocking with a shield spends stamina in proportion to the damage that the block absorbs.
Server-configurable costs
The stamina cost of each attack type is controlled by values in the server config file.

Use cases
Gliding and fighting on one stamina bar
A player who glides between islands also has to decide when to swing a weapon, because both draw from the same stamina.
Server tuning
Server owners can adjust how heavily melee, ranged and blocking actions drain stamina.
