Better Irons
by profeyfey
Better Irons adds a set of mid-tier iron tools and armor for Forge, placed between diamond and netherite in strength.
What it does
Better Irons introduces more advanced iron items that are stronger than the vanilla iron set but weaker than diamond gear. Swords and tools are given balanced stats, so the new pieces fill the gap between diamond and netherite rather than replacing them. Netherite remains the top tier of the game, and the iron items here bridge the space below it.
Installation requires Forge, and the mod file is placed in the mods folder before launching the game. Files target Forge only, across 7 game versions 1.20 – 1.20.6, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. The mod is published under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
Key features
Advanced iron weapons
New iron swords and tools with stats set above vanilla iron and below diamond.
Mid-tier armor
Armor pieces that offer protection between diamond and netherite for players who have not reached netherite yet.
Balanced stats
Each item is tuned for a strategic role rather than raw power, so no single piece outclasses the others.
Netherite kept as top gear
The new iron items leave netherite as the strongest equipment, so late-game progression is unchanged.

Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.

Use cases
Mid-game progression
Players who have diamond but not netherite can use the new iron pieces as an intermediate upgrade.
Strategic combat loadouts
Each item fills a distinct role, so players can choose gear for specific fights instead of always using the strongest option.
Who it’s for: Players on Forge who want more equipment options between iron and netherite, and server owners who want a tier of gear that sits between diamond and netherite.
How it compares
More Tools! and More Armor! are Forge mods for 1.20.1 that add their own tool and armor sets, both client and server and both under All rights reserved. Compact Iron Farm is a Forge mod for 1.20.1, client and server, released under the Apache License 2.0, so its code is open for reuse, unlike Better Irons. Quartz Useful is a Forge mod for 1.20.1, client and server, under All rights reserved, and covers a different set of materials.
