Bellum

by EnderBoy

Bellum, a Fabric equipment mod by EnderBoy, adds a set of unique weapons and tools with special properties, each with its own attack pattern and trade-offs.

FabricClient and serverCustom license1.21.11

What it does

Bellum changes how melee and thrown weapons behave. Several weapons trade damage for speed or reach: a sword that attacks faster with less damage, a slower sword with more reach, and a battle axe that is larger and heavier. A sickle is held in the offhand while the main hand swings, and a right-click attack can be used with it. Other items are throwable and tipped with potions, and a trident can be made weaker but craftable, or upgraded.

The tools also carry special effects. One deals extra damage to mobs standing in water, one reverses knockback, and one reflects part of the damage a player takes from a block. An anchor can be used like a grappling hook, creating a shockwave on contact with a block. A shield break can be avoided by chance through the Second Chance property. Bellum requires CipherLib on Fabric, and it runs on the client and the server, so both sides need the mod.

The mod is published for Fabric and the 1.21.11 game version only, with the latest file 1.3.0-1.21.11 dated 2026-10-04. It is released under a custom license and is not open source, though the source code and issue tracker are public. The first release was on 2026-05-06.

Key features

  1. Offhand sickle attack

A sickle held in the offhand pairs with the main hand, and a right-click attack uses both.

  2. Trade-off weapons

Swords, axes and a trident each trade damage for speed, reach or weight, so the stats differ from vanilla.

  3. Grappling anchor

An anchor can pull the player toward a block, and contact with it creates a shockwave.

  4. Special properties

Water-based bonus damage, reverse knockback, partial block-damage reflection and a chance to avoid shield break.
