Bedrockoid

by SashaKYotoz

Bedrockoid brings a handful of Bedrock Edition behaviors to Java Edition, covering snow on leaves, composter collision, fire aspect, shields and shulker dyeing.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

Several Bedrock-only mechanics are reproduced in Java worlds. Leaves change color when snow sits on them or when they are placed in snowy biomes, and snow appears under trees in those biomes. Mushroom trees can spawn in swamps, and composter collision shifts depending on the items composted inside.

Combat and interaction changes include fire aspect igniting TNT, lit candles and campfires, and entities raising a shield while sneaking. Living shulkers can also be dyed. The code is under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and its source and issue tracker are public.

Bedrockoid runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Builds exist for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across five game versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.11, and the latest Forge file targets 1.20.1.

Key features

  1. Snowy leaves and snow

Leaves turn snowy when snow covers them or when they grow in snowy biomes, and snow spawns beneath trees there.

  2. Swamp mushroom trees

Mushroom trees generate in swamp biomes, matching the Bedrock Edition world layout.

  3. Composter collision

The composter's collision shape changes according to the items placed in it.

  4. Fire aspect and sneak shield

Fire aspect lights TNT, lit candles and campfires, and sneaking entities use their shield.

  5. Dyeable shulkers

Living shulkers accept dye, adding a color option that Java Edition does not provide by default.

Use cases

Bedrock-style survival

Players who know the Bedrock Edition mechanics can find them again in a Java world without switching editions.

Who it’s for: Players who want specific Bedrock Edition behaviors in a Java Edition world, and server owners who want those behaviors on a shared server.
