Basalt Blocks
by legopitstop
Basalt Blocks adds basalt slabs, stairs, walls, buttons and pressure plates, plus polished basalt brick variants, for building with the stone.
What it does
The mod extends the three basalt blocks that vanilla Minecraft provides with a set of matching decorative shapes. Each shape is crafted from the base block, so builders can finish walls, floors and roofs in basalt without leaving the vanilla material. Basalt drops basalt cobblestone when mined, and that cobblestone can be smelted back into basalt, so the stone stays part of the usual progression.
Recipes follow the pattern used by other stone families such as Blackstone and cobblestone, so the new blocks are crafted with the same kind of ingredients a player already knows. The added blocks suit nether castles, house interiors and general world decoration. Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, for 1.16.3 and for 1.20 – 1.21, with 1.1.0 as the latest build for 1.21.
Key features
Basalt slabs and stairs
Slabs and stairs are crafted from basalt, letting builders make sloped roofs and half-height floors.
Walls, buttons and plates
Basalt walls, buttons and pressure plates complete the set for fences, switches and triggers built in the stone.
Polished brick variants
Polished basalt brick slabs and stairs add a second texture family for patterned floors and trim.
Vanilla drop loop
Basalt drops basalt cobblestone, which smelts back into basalt, so the material cycle matches the base game.

Use cases
Nether castles
The stone fits dark fortresses and walls, where the slabs, stairs and walls create layered battlements.
House interiors
Basalt buttons, plates and bricks give floors and switches a consistent material inside a basalt build.
Who it’s for: Builders who work with basalt and want more shapes than the three vanilla blocks offer. Server owners running a decorative build can add the mod to share the same blocks with every player.
How it compares
Missing Links is open source under the MIT License and adds its own content for Fabric and Forge across 1.20.1 – 1.20.4, so it covers a different set of blocks. Bone Blocks is for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 1.19.2 – 1.21.1 and is not open source, which means its files cannot be modified and redistributed the way Basalt Blocks' sources can be viewed.
