Ascend Tiers
by Pyding
Ascend Tiers gives items, blocks, creatures and armor a numeric Tier, so a tool or piece of gear only works as well as its level allows.
What it does
Tiers control what players can use. A player must reach a Tier before items of that Tier can be held, worn, equipped in Curios accessory slots or used to break blocks, and the mod checks this in the inventory. Tier is set through a config file, and each player levels up by collecting items available at the current Tier, which grants experience scaled to the item's Tier.
Combat and durability also follow the Tier system. Damage, defense, toughness and durability rise with an item's Tier. A creature's Tier affects the damage it deals and receives, and armor absorbs more damage from lower-Tier creatures than from higher ones. Player-versus-player fights count absorption only between the Tiers of the attacking and defending items. Tiers are assigned with commands for held items, chest contents and spawn eggs, and removed the same way. The Client and server environment means the server and every player need the mod, and it is released under the MIT License as open source for Forge and NeoForge, for 1.19.2 and 1.20.1.
Key features
Tier-gated equipment
Items, blocks and accessories can only be held, worn or used once the player reaches their Tier.
Tier-scaled stats
Damage, defense, toughness and durability increase with each item's Tier, and armor absorption depends on the attacker's Tier.
Experience from items
Collected items give experience based on their Tier, and the requirement for each level grows, starting at 30% of the maximum.
Commands for assigning Tiers
Commands set or remove Tiers on held items, chest contents and creatures, with creatures taking their Tier from their health.
Configurable balance
A common config file controls bonuses, scaling, the maximum Tier and related settings, so modpack makers can tune the balance.
