Area Mine

by ModdedWolf

Area Mine is a Fabric enchantment mod that lets a pickaxe break a whole cube-shaped area of blocks in one swing.

FabricClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.10 – 26.2

What it does

A pickaxe gets the Area Mine enchantment, and the area around each broken block is cleared as well, with the size set by the enchantment level. Players can enchant pickaxes at an anvil, or obtain the Area Mine enchanted book from a Librarian trade at level 5. Crouching while breaking a block with an enchanted pickaxe changes the shape of the mined area, and bedrock stays unbroken in every case.

The mod adds an in-game menu with two modes. Simple mode uses a token economy and a token pattern, with commands kept hidden, while Standard mode offers the full progression. Progress is tracked per world, and switching worlds carries the progress over. Clients get a particle preview of the blocks that will be mined, and after editing the configuration, an operator with permission can run the reload command to apply it.

Area Mine is published for Fabric only, for game versions 1.21.10 – 26.2, and runs on client and server. Its code is licensed under the MIT License, with public links to the source code and the issue tracker. The only server-side requirement is that players join without installing anything beyond the client itself.

Key features

  1. Area mining enchantment

The enchantment lets a pickaxe clear a cube of blocks around the one being broken, growing with each enchantment level.

  2. Ore-filtered mining

The mod can be set to progress only on specific ores, so the area mined stays limited to chosen block types.

  3. Progression menu

An in-game menu lists four upgrades with the number of blocks mined toward each one, and shows stats for the current world.

  4. Token economy mode

Simple mode replaces full progression with a token economy and a per-world token pattern for gating areas.

Questions

Does Area Mine have to be installed on both sides?

Yes. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too.

How do players get the Area Mine enchantment?

It can be applied at an anvil to a pickaxe, or bought as an enchanted book from a Librarian at level 5.

Does Area Mine work on bedrock?

No. Bedrock and other unbreakable blocks are never broken by the area mining.
