VortyLib
by vortianski
VortyLib is a shared-code library for Forge and NeoForge, providing features that other mods build on, such as custom render types, a font class and a configuration screen.
What it does
Other mods can depend on VortyLib to reuse its rendering, item and creative-tab code instead of bundling their own copies. It includes custom RenderTypes that work with core shaders, and the author notes that Iris Shaders supports those custom render types. A custom Font class draws text without culling, and a special blockstate definition lets models rotate around the Z axis.
The library also offers a simple configuration screen, AdvancedItemOptions for finer control over items, inlined creative tab item groups, and a layered post-processing effects system. Curios API is optional: it adds support for the Curios slots when installed. Weavers Paradise and Chremastics require VortyLib to run, so it must be present when they are installed.
Both sides must run the mod, with the server and each player equipped alike. Files exist for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with Forge 1.2.5.2 for 1.20.1 and NeoForge 1.2.5.3 for 1.21.1 as the latest builds. VortyLib is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Custom render types
RenderTypes built for core shaders let mods draw geometry that the default pipeline does not support.
Font rendering without culling
A custom Font class renders text without culling, so labels stay visible from angles where standard text is hidden.
Z-axis blockstate rotation
A special blockstate definition allows models to rotate around the Z axis, which vanilla blockstates do not offer.
Config screen and item options
A simple config screen and AdvancedItemOptions give mods a shared way to expose settings and control item behavior.
Creative tabs and effects
Inlined creative tab item groups and a layered post-processing effects system are available to dependent mods.
