Voice Chat Recording

by omiao

Voice Chat Recording lets players capture voice chat audio from Simple Voice Chat, start and stop recordings with commands, and play saved clips back in the game.

What it does

The mod records the voices of players through Simple Voice Chat, using that mod's API to receive the audio. Recordings start and stop with commands, and each saved clip can be played back in the world. Audio is stored in the .pcm format, either in memory or on disk, so clips can be kept between sessions.

Clips can also be altered with effects such as reverb, a robotic voice and pitch changes. The mod is a library, so it serves as groundwork for other modders: a horror mod or a comedy mod can build on the recorded voice. Revervox is one catalog mod that already makes use of it.

Simple Voice Chat is required and must be installed alongside this mod. Voice Chat Recording is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and is published for NeoForge and Forge on 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with the latest files dated 2026-08-01.

Key features

  1. Start and stop commands

Commands begin and end a recording, so a session can be captured on demand without any interface.

  2. Playback of saved clips

Stored recordings can be played back in the game, reproducing the voices captured earlier.

  3. Pcm audio storage

Recordings are saved in the .pcm format, kept in memory or written to disk.

  4. Audio effects

Reverb, a robotized voice and pitch shifts can be applied to recorded audio.
