Valkyrie is a Forge optimization mod for Minecraft 1.12.2 that targets client-side rendering and math routines to raise and steady frame rates.

What it does

Valkyrie reworks several client rendering classes, including cloud rendering, terrain loading through ViewFrustum, global rendering, vertex buffer uploads and model drawing. The author describes the aim as higher and more stable FPS, with less work done per frame in the terrain code, which replaces some nested loops with bitwise operations.

The MathHelper class is optimized with the Jafama math library, which speeds up the mathematical operations the game calls. Because the changes sit on the client, a single-player or multiplayer player installs Valkyrie alone and a server needs nothing added. Valkyrie requires ConfigAnytime, MixinBooter and Red Core to run.

The project is published for Forge only, with one file for 1.12.2: version 0.2, released 2024-04-04 on the beta channel. The author labels the mod beta while still improving it, and the source code and issue tracker are public. Valkyrie is open source under the MIT License.
