Red Core
by Desoroxxx
Red Core is a Forge library mod that supplies shared utility classes for Red Studio projects and for other mods that depend on it.
What it does
Red Core carries code that Red Studio uses across most of its projects, so the same helpers do not have to be rewritten in each mod. The author states that the source aims to include thorough Javadoc and comments, so a developer can read what a method does without leaving the IDE. Four catalog mods depend on it, and the requiring list includes Alfheim and Valkyrie.
The library is installed on client and server, and both sides need it for the mods that depend on it to run. Files are published for Forge only, in 12 release versions covering 1.7.10 – 1.12.2, with 0.7.1 for 1.12.2 as the latest file in the beta channel. The project is open source under the MIT License, and public links exist for the source code and the issue tracker.
Red Core was first published on 2023-06-13 and last updated on 2026-01-13. The author accepts pull requests and feature requests, and commissions for custom mods are described as open.
Key features
Vector suite
A vector set covering every Java primitive type, designed for fast and simple arithmetic in code.
Math utilities
A utility class with additional math methods that are not in the standard library.
Biased clamping
Clamping methods for every primitive, with testers that show which end of the range the clamp favors.
Embedded Jafama
The Jafama math library is bundled, so other mods can call it without adding a separate dependency.
Client ticker
A client-side ticker for methods that do not need to run 20 times per second, such as slower periodic checks.
Networking helpers
A utility class that simplifies sending packets between client and server with a cleaner interface.
OptiFine detection
Checks whether OptiFine is installed, can disable chosen OptiFine features, and reports whether shaders are enabled.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.

Use cases
Developers of Red Studio mods
Projects that depend on Red Core reuse its vector, clamping and networking code instead of duplicating it.
Mod authors using Jafama
A mod that needs the Jafama math functions can use the copy embedded in Red Core.
OptiFine compatibility
Mods that must avoid conflicts with OptiFine features can read the installation and shader state through the OptiNotFine utility.
Who it’s for: Red Core is aimed at mod developers who want the shared utilities, and at players who install one of the mods that require it. Players only need the library because another mod asks for it.
How it compares
MixinBooter is a Forge library that is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only, for 1.8 – 1.12.2, and it runs on client and server, so it covers a different job in the same version range. QuLib is open source under the MIT License, runs on client and server, and targets Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.18.2 – 1.20.4, which means a different loader set.
| Mod | Loaders | Game versions | Environment | Updated |
