Fancier Block Particles replaces the flat 2D particles Minecraft shows when blocks break or are walked on with 3D particles, plus a placing animation for blocks.

What it does

Blocks in the world leave particles when broken, placed or stepped on. With this Forge mod for 1.12.2 those particles are drawn as 3D shapes instead of the flat sprites of the base game, and a placing animation plays when a block is set down. The changes are visual only and happen on the client, so a player can install it alone and servers do not need it.

The mod is a fork of the Fancy Block Particles project by MorphoxL, which the author describes as buggy. The fork addresses issues reported against the original, and the author lists a set of resource figures (faster loading, less memory and CPU use) compared with that project. These are the author's own measurements, not independent tests, and they are not repeated here. A Blacklist System and a Configuration Menu let players choose which blocks produce particles.

Files are released for Forge only, for Minecraft 1.12.2, with 0.7 as the latest file. Source code and an issue tracker are public, and the mod was first published and last updated on 2023-04-16.
