Ultimative FullBright
Ultimative FullBright brightens dark areas with a toggleable night vision effect, and the player switches it on and off with a hotkey.
What it does
The mod applies a night vision style brightness without touching the game's core rendering engine. A configurable key turns the effect off at once, so the view returns to normal instantly. It requires FerriteCore, and Embeddium is optional, since the mod is compatible with Embeddium, Rubidium, Oculus and OptiFine.
Only the client needs the mod. Vanilla multiplayer servers, Realms and custom modpacks accept it without any server-side install. The Forge build targets 1.20.1 alone, with v1.0.0 dated 2026-05-29 as the latest file. The code is closed: the mod is not open source and is released under All rights reserved.
Players who want a lighter setup in a modpack can drop the potion icon and effect box from the HUD and inventory while this effect is active. The mod is aimed at players who pair it with performance shaders.
Key features
Hotkey toggle
A configurable key turns the brightening effect on or off without leaving the game.
Hidden potion clutter
While the effect is active, the potion particles, top-right HUD icon and inventory effect box are hidden.
Low overhead design
The effect is coded to avoid memory leaks and tick rate drops, and it works alongside shader mods.
Rendering bug avoidance
The night vision effect is applied without modifying the core rendering path, which the author says avoids conflicts seen in other FullBright mods.

Use cases
Caves and night builds
Players exploring dark caves or building at night can see block edges without placing light sources.
Modpack use
Modpack authors can include the mod on the client side, since servers need nothing extra to run it.
Who itβs for: Players on Forge 1.20.1 who want a toggleable brightness effect next to Embeddium, Oculus or OptiFine, and modpack makers who need a client-only option.
How it compares
Lazurite is a client-side only Forge mod for 1.20.1, open source under the Apache License 2.0. Xenon is also client-side only and open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, but it supports both Forge and NeoForge. Ultimative FullBright is a Forge-only client mod for 1.20.1 and is not open source.
