Ultimate Chess lets players set up and play chess on a Minecraft board, with pieces and boards that can be dyed and crafted.

What it does

Chess pieces and boards are placeable blocks, and the mod also includes checkers. Game pieces are crafted from recipes and can be dyed, forming up to 17 teams for a battle royale style match. Boards can be dyed as well, and a gold game board can be engraved with a stick. Black and white dye color a board in those two shades.

The mod is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 only. Files are published for Fabric and Forge, with the latest builds, 1.1.3, targeting 1.20.1. Ultimate Chess runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. Game versions cover 1.19 – 1.20.1.
