Tweakable Sulfur Cubes

by Hexasan

Tweakable Sulfur Cubes changes the size and effects of Sulfur Cubes through items that players use on them, such as redstone dust, milk buckets, slime balls and water buckets.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalCreative Commons Attribution 4.026.2 – 26.3

What it does

Sulfur Cubes can be enlarged with slime balls and shrunk with water buckets. Redstone dust makes a cube's current effects permanent, and milk buckets clear those effects. Picking up a Sulfur Cube with a bucket resets its size, a behavior tracked in MC-308422 and listed among the known bugs.

The mod is a server-side mod for Minecraft 26.2 and 26.3, released for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. It also works as a data pack on server platforms. Only the server needs it, so players join without installing anything. Snapshot builds are published, and the code is under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, which is not open source.

Key features

  1. Enlarging cubes

Slime balls make a Sulfur Cube grow, letting server owners and players adjust its size in play.

  2. Shrinking cubes

Water buckets reduce a Sulfur Cube's size, so the same mob can be made smaller on demand.

  3. Permanent effects

Redstone dust turns the effects a Sulfur Cube currently has into permanent ones.

  4. Effect cleansing

Milk buckets remove the effects applied to a Sulfur Cube, restoring it to its base state.

Use cases

Custom survival servers

Server owners who want Sulfur Cubes to behave differently from vanilla can change their size and effects through these items.

Decorative builds

Players who keep Sulfur Cubes as pets or displays can grow or shrink them to suit a build.

Who it’s for: Server owners who want to change how Sulfur Cubes behave, and players who keep them on a server that runs the mod. Because the mod is server-side, only the server operator has to install it.
