Trotting Wagons
With Trotting Wagons, horses pull covered wagons of three types, and players and mobs can ride in them as well as carry items.
What it does
The mod adds horse-drawn wagons that stay close to vanilla behaviour. A horse is hitched to a wagon by leashing it and crouch interacting with the wagon. Mobs can be mounted on a wagon the same way, or by crouch right interacting with a mob that stands next to a stationary wagon, and they can be dismounted again by crouch interacting with them.
Each wagon is driven with the Horse Whip. Right clicking while seated changes speed, and crouch interacting with a wagon that has no rider switches it between forwards and reverse. A wagon takes its colour from wool used on it while crouching, which helps tell several wagons apart on a road. The mod is aimed at moving players, mobs and items across a world without relying on command based transport.
Trotting Wagons needs Geckolib. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge, for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, and the code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved.
Key features
Three wagon types
The Conestoga is a covered freight wagon, the Royal is a coach with a wooden cabin, and the Armored wagon is slow and heavy.
Different capacities
The Conestoga holds 108 inventory slots, the Royal 54 and the Armored wagon has no inventory, with health values of 60, 80 and 120.
Speed settings
The Royal is the fastest wagon, the Conestoga runs at medium speed, and the Armored wagon accelerates slowly.
Horse hitching
Horses are hitched by leashing them and crouch interacting with a wagon, so no extra item is needed.
Recolouring
Crouch clicking a wagon with wool changes its colour, which helps tell several wagons apart on a road.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who want horse transport in survival or on a server, and server owners who want wagons that work with vanilla horses and mobs.
How it compares
DragN's Wagons! is a Forge-only option for 1.20.1, released under All rights reserved and played on both client and server. Reppeling Horse covers Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1 and also needs both sides. Horseman is the open source choice: it is released under the MIT License, supports Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.20.1 – 26.3, and is also client and server.
