With Totem Assist, a red vignette builds around the screen edges as health falls, so the player sees danger before it becomes critical.
What it does
Totem Assist is a client-side quality-of-life mod for Fabric that watches the player's current health and draws a smooth vignette around the edges of the screen when health drops to dangerous levels. The effect grows stronger as health gets lower, so the warning matches how close the player is to losing the run.
The overlay can be tuned in the in-game config screen. Players set its color, how long it stays on screen and how noticeable it is, choosing anything from a subtle hint to a clear alarm. The mod only shows visual feedback based on current health; it does not act for the player.
Totem Assist runs on the client alone, so servers do not need it and players can join without installing anything. It is released for 1.21.4 – 1.21.11, with the latest Fabric file, 1.0.0, built for 1.21.11 and published on 2026-06-09. The code is under All rights reserved and the mod is not open source, and the author notes it works alongside Sodium.
