ForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.19.2 – 1.20.2

What it does

Gating in T.H.I.S is done through the mod's config files. Scripting is not needed for the basic setup, although the author notes that additional mods such as CraftTweaker or KubeJS can be used to fulfill more complex needs. Gated items can be hidden from JEI, dropped out of a player's inventory, or kept from being used, and blocks such as chests and furnaces can be stopped from being placed or accessed. Dimensions can be closed off as a whole.

The mod was made for the Decursio Project and its Expert modpack, where item gating behind stages is a central feature. Its author describes it as a short utility built to let a modpack assign many stages quickly. Equipment slots such as armor can be removed, and the name shown for an unknown gated item and its tooltip can be set. T.H.I.S is a Client and server mod, so the server and every player must run it. It is published for Forge across 1.19.2, 1.20.1 and 1.20.2, and the source code, issue tracker and wiki are public, though the code is under All rights reserved and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Config-based stage gating

Items, blocks and dimensions are gated through config files, without writing use scripts for each stage.

  2. Hidden and dropped items

Gated items can be hidden from JEI or dropped from the player's inventory, both set in the config.

  3. Custom unknown item display

Gated items show an Unknown Item title and tooltip, and the name and text can be changed to anything.

  4. Blocked placement and access

Blocks can be stopped from being placed, and containers such as chests and furnaces can be kept closed.

Questions

Does T.H.I.S need CraftTweaker or KubeJS?

They are not listed as required dependencies. The author notes that more complex gating can use them alongside the config files.

Does the server need T.H.I.S?

Yes. Installation covers the server and each player's game.

Is T.H.I.S still being developed?

No. The development is discontinued, and the author points to the newer DECURSIO STAGES mod instead.
