Third Person Shooting: Zero

by ChloePrime

Players who fire guns in Third Person Shooting: Zero can keep the ShoulderSurfing camera, because this Forge and NeoForge add-on makes TAC gunplay work in that third person view.

What it does

Third Person Shooting: Zero connects TAC gunplay to the ShoulderSurfing camera. Guns are registered as ShoulderSurfing adaptive items while the player aims, so the over-the-shoulder view follows the weapon in hand. Aiming down sights zooms the third person camera in, and the author notes that recoil works in shoulder surfing mode in the 4.x line.

The mod requires Shoulder Surfing Reloaded and the unofficial TaCZ 1.21.1 NeoForge Port, both of which must be installed alongside it. It is a client-side only mod, so only the client needs it and servers run without it. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge across three game versions, 1.19.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with 6.0.0 as the latest file for 1.20.1 and for 1.21.1. The code is under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and the project is open source with public source code and an issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Adaptive gun items

Guns register as ShoulderSurfing adaptive items while aiming, so the third person camera responds to the weapon being held.

  2. Aim down sights zoom

Aiming down sights zooms the third person camera in, which keeps the target centered while the player shoots.

  3. Recoil in shoulder mode

In the 4.x line, recoil is applied to the shoulder surfing camera as well as the normal view.

  4. ShoulderSurfing 4 support

The 5.x line is compatible with Shoulder Surfing 4, the version the author tested against.
