The Depths Below The Deep

by Koil

The Depths Below The Deep adds generated blocks and food that spread through the world from the Deep Dark biome, and it needs its companion mod Koil to run.

FabricQuiltClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.20.1

What it does

The mod is an expansion built around the Deep Dark. Sculk infection changes ordinary terrain into several groups of blocks: semi-living blocks such as grass, podzol and rooted dirt; living blocks such as leaves, vines and moss; rock-like blocks such as stone, deepslate and diorite; and bone blocks. Each sculk type has its own food that matches it, so the infected blocks and the items they produce belong to one set.

The mod requires Koil on Fabric and Quilt, and it is built for Minecraft 1.20.1 only. It needs to be installed on the client and on the server, so the server and every player run it together. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the source code and issue tracker are public.

Key features

  1. Semi-living sculk blocks

Grass, podzol and rooted dirt take on the infection and become semi-living variants found in the Deep Dark.

  2. Living sculk blocks

Leaves, vines and moss are converted into living blocks that grow across the infected terrain.

  3. Rock-like sculk blocks

Stone, deepslate and diorite gain sculk variants, so cave walls can show the infection as well.

  4. Bone sculk blocks

Bone blocks are added to the infected set, giving builders a pale material for the sculk theme.

  5. Matching sculk foods

Each sculk type corresponds to a food, so a player can tell which infected group an item belongs to.
