Terrible Claw is a Forge mod by LanJaxten that adds a boss-hunt horror encounter with a set of monsters, a paper mission log, and a handmade spear for players who want to face it.
What it does
The mod is built around a hunt. Players collect pages that describe missions, complete them in order, and move toward a boss fight against the main entity. The notes say the story and final goal are kept out of the description, so players learn them in play. The mod also includes a broken-down shack taken over by the entities, and a nest inside a building where the hunt leads, with a storage piece that carries lore.
The creatures are described as three distinct types: the smallest is afraid of light, a second moves quickly and stalks, and the largest relies on brute strength. Players are advised to watch from afar, keep scent hidden, and avoid attacking with torches, since they set the entities on fire. Monster spawning can be disabled with Bad Mobs, and spawn rates can be changed in the configuration files. Terrible Claw requires Geckolib, and the mod runs on client and server. Files are published for Forge, for 1.19.2 and 1.20.1, with 1.1.8.6 for 1.20.1 as the latest file.

Makeshift spear
A handmade spear stuns an entity for 5 to 6 seconds and deals 10 damage, but it breaks after one use.
Boss fight trigger
Right-clicking a specific item starts the boss fight against the main entity, which takes about 10 minutes.
Head and bone drops
Killing an entity yields its head, while bones come only from killing the side entities.
Configurable spawn rates
Spawn rates for the creatures are set in the configuration files, so server owners can adjust how often they appear.
