TerraPlusPlus
by noahhusby
TerraPlusPlus generates Earth-based terrain for Forge 1.12.2, using public online datasets to shape real-world geography in a Minecraft world.
What it does
The mod is a fork of Terra, and it uses public online datasets to generate terrain that follows Earth's geography. Elevation is drawn from real data, oceans are based on elevation with depth data, and ore spawning is placed below the surface. Procedural tree placement, major and minor roads, and grass pathways built from OpenStreetMap data complete the generated landscape.
Players can teleport to a chosen latitude, longitude and elevation with the tpll command. Terra++ adds a Customize World screen, and that screen requires MalisisCore. The author notes that the code is updated to narrow the connection between real-world places and in-game blocks, and that the latest build is always compiled to GitHub and included with the BTE modpack.
The mod is published for Forge only, for the single game version 1.12.2. Either side can run it, and neither needs it. It is released under the MIT License and is open source.
Key features
Real-world elevation
Terrain height and oceans are derived from elevation data, so the land follows the shape of real places.
Roads and pathways
Major roads, minor roads and grass pathways are generated from OpenStreetMap data across the map.
Coordinate teleport
The tpll command moves a player to a chosen latitude, longitude and elevation within the generated world.
Procedural trees and ores
Trees are placed procedurally and ores spawn below the surface, with biomes and structures kept to familiar blocks.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want a world generated from real geography on Forge 1.12.2. The Customize World screen needs MalisisCore.
How it compares
McOSM is a Forge mod for 1.12.2 that is client-side only and open source under the MIT License, so it changes nothing on the server. Tellus runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 – 26.2, with the server required and the client optional, and uses a custom license that is not open source. SuSen36's Terra World is also open source under the MIT License, but it targets Forge 1.20 – 1.20.4 rather than 1.12.2.
