TerraVermis

by Daniel-Mendes

TerraVermis adds earthworms to Minecraft, which players find by breaking dirt-type blocks and which then work on soil, compost and fishing.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or laterOpen source1.21.5

What it does

Earthworms appear when players break dirt, grass block, rooted dirt, podzol or mycelium, and they also emerge in composters and on naturally moist soil. Once a worm is picked up, it can be used in several ways: eaten to restore a little hunger, thrown into a composter to speed composting, or used as bait to shorten fishing waits and improve loot. Worms die on polluted or unnatural blocks, so they are mostly found in natural terrain.

Soil work is part of the mod as well. Topsoil can be used in place of farmland to boost crop growth. Rain Fortune enchantments raise the chance of worm drops. Drop rates, composting behavior and growth boosts are set in JSON or common.toml files. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Files are published for Fabric and NeoForge, for 1.21.5 only, under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, and the code is open source.

Key features

  1. Earthworms from dirt

Breaking dirt, grass block, rooted dirt, podzol or mycelium can yield earthworms, and Rain Fortune raises the drop chance.

  2. Worms as food

Eating a worm restores half a hunger point and one food point, which is a fallback when a player is starving.

  3. Fishing bait

Worms used as bait shorten the time a catch takes and improve the loot that comes up.

  4. Compost boost

Thrown into a composter, a worm speeds up the composting process.

  5. Topsoil for crops

Topsoil can take the place of farmland and boosts crop growth on the blocks it covers.
