Telecompass

by AlanZucconi

Telecompass lets players craft compasses that teleport them to lodestones they have linked, across different dimensions.

ForgeMIT License1.20 – 1.20.5

What it does

Players craft a telecompass from a recipe, then link it to a lodestone. Using a linked telecompass teleports the player to that lodestone, with a cooldown between uses. The recipe, the cooldown length and the particle and sound effects of teleportation can all be customised in the config.

Access is governed by permissions. Server owners decide which players may craft and use telecompasses, and a custom resource pack with the telecompass texture is sent automatically to players who hold the matching permission. The mod is built for Forge and is also available for Paper, Spigot and Bukkit servers. Files cover 1.20 – 1.20.5, and the latest Forge file is 1.2 for 1.20.5, published 2024-04-25.

Key features

  1. Craftable telecompasses

Players craft telecompasses from a recipe that server owners can change.

  2. Lodestone linking

A telecompass is linked to a lodestone, and using it moves the player to that location.

  3. Cross-dimension travel

Linked lodestones can be reached from other dimensions, not only the one the player stands in.

  4. Adjustable cooldown

The time between teleports is set in the config, so servers can tune how often players travel.

  5. Effects on teleport

Particle and sound effects play during teleportation and can be customised.

How are players allowed to craft and use telecompasses?

Permissions decide access. Server owners grant the permission to the players who should be able to craft and use telecompasses.
